Ketamine is an anesthetic. Although it works on different parts of the brain than classic psychedelics like psilocybin, the experiences on ketamine can feel very similar. The effects of the medicine average 45-60 minutes, which is significantly shorter than most psychedelics.
What is KAP?
KAP stands for ketamine assisted psychotherapy. Ketamine opens the door to psychedelic exploration, where the medicine often has a way of organically guiding the client where they need to go. Ketamine can help turn off one’s default mode network by collapsing the psyche’s protective walls and allowing one to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness. When paired with the structure and support of therapy, clients have the opportunity to process, understand, and interpret their journey as it is happening with their therapist. KAP can help tackle the root of an issue, negative thought patterns, and traumas. KAP can be beneficial for clients who have struggled with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges.
